Aloha Hustlers! Today I started at 12:30. I needed to get my yard mowed and I wasn't going to leave the house until it was done. Once that was done, I was on the road. Today was slow as well. I have really been shocked at how slow this holiday weekend has been. I would have expected there to be a lot more ride requests than I have been offered. My friend thinks that it is all the students that are graduating are taking the long weekend to make money to get ready to head off to college. This was a great insight because it made me realize that there are a lot of people that will be entering the Uber pool. This could mean lower earnings over the summer until they go back to school or back to their education jobs. Something to think about when deciding on this hustle for yourself.

I'd also love to share a fun story that happened to me today. I was in Waipahu waiting for rides and I could see the Uber map was "Surging". Surging means that there is a lot of demand in an area. So I was in a Surge area for over an hour with no rides offered. Finally Uber Offered me a ride for $10 dollars! Normally when this happens, I turn off Lyft and proceed to my pickup, but today I forgot to turn off Lyft. While I was on my way to pick up the Uber Passenger, Lyft offered me a ride for $22.00. I Immediately accepted the ride and cancelled on the Uber Passenger. I felt bad for cancelling on the Uber rider, but when Lyft was offering double the pay for the same amount of time, it was a no brainer. Uber has been progressively cutting driver pay and I think more and more drivers will be making this process a norm. It's unfortunate situation, but with Hawaii being so expensive, independent contractors will be forced to make more and more of these types of decisions. Maybe we will get lucky and someone will create a more fair Uber style app that makes it profitable for drivers and fair to passengers so no one has to do these types of things. Hope this helps with your hustle and if you have an app that you think I should try, let me know! Good luck out there Hustlers!
